about the club

Who we are

USSAC is the University of Surrey Sub-Aqua Club, one the universities largest non-competitive sports clubs.
We are a British Sub-Aqua Club branch (0316) and train divers throughout the university semester.

We run a number of BSAC courses including Ocean Diver, Sports Diver, Dive Leader and Advanced Diver.
USSAC has a high safety record and as well as the above courses we also run regular Oxygen Administration and First aid courses along with specialist courses such as Advanced Nitrox.

When we meet

During Semester: Every Thursday, 7.20pm at Senate Car Park for a minibus ride to the Spectrum Leisure Centre.
Out of Semester: Regular dive trips on our club boat and dive boats along the south coast, see our calendar for more information! We also enjoy the occasional curry and do are best to keep the local pubs in business!

How To Join

We are primarily a student club, so you need to be a current student at the University of Surrey, although we do also accept a small number of non-student members.

Try-dive sessions are held every year, but you can also join up mid-semester, just e-mail our membership secretary for more information!

How Much

Training is provided by volunteers from the club who are qualified to teach Sub Aqua, so training itself is totally free. The club also provides most of the kit you’ll need to learn, but if you decide to continue, you are encouraged to gradually build up your own kit.

A member must have club, UniSport, and BSAC memberships. Click here for more info.
